Earrings made from possum and merino wool, hand-crafted with yarn sourced from New Zealand.
In this country, the possum is considered a pest due to its harmful impact on native wildlife. Locals are therefore encouraged to make use of its fur to produce warm, soft clothing. The yarn is blended with 80% merino wool to allow for spinning and to soften the fibre.
The skein used for these earrings comes from the family-run company Outlaw Yarn in Christchurch, which hand-dyes the wool using traditional techniques.
